About Our Platform

Islamaya Sinhalen was founded in 2018 by cultural researcher Chaminda Perera, who recognised that quality Sinhala-language educational resources were rapidly disappearing from the internet — replaced by low-quality blog posts and misinformation.

Our team of 22 contributors includes university lecturers, heritage professionals, and community volunteers from Sri Lanka, Australia, Canada, and the UK. Every article is reviewed by at least two editors before publication.

Reader Feedback

From readers in Sri Lanka and the diaspora.

★★★★★

"My children were born in Melbourne and had no connection to our heritage. Islamaya Sinhalen's historical chronicles gave them a gateway into their own culture — in language they could actually understand."

Anoma D.
Melbourne, Australia
★★★★★

"As a Sinhala teacher at a weekend school in Toronto, I use these resources as my primary reference. The quality of research is comparable to university-level texts, but accessible to secondary school students."

Priyantha S., Teacher
Toronto, Canada
★★★★★

"The traditional arts guides are a national treasure. The interviews with Kolam mask carvers in Ambalangoda preserve knowledge that is genuinely at risk of being lost. Thank you for this important work."
